Things to Do

Harlech Castle
Harlech Castle is located just 10 minutes walk away from Crown Lodge. It was built between 1283 and 1295 by an army of nearly a thousand skilled craftsmen and labourers.

Having recently been refurbished, the newly installed ‘floating’ bridge makes access to the castle truly available for all. The bridge connects the castle with the brand new visitor centre in the former Castle Hotel building.

Portmeirion Village
Portmeirion was created by the architect Clough Williams-Ellis from 1925 to 1976. He wanted to show how a naturally beautiful site could be developed without spoiling it.

Portmeirion is renowned for its historic architecture, attracting 225,000 visitors per year, as well as having scenic surroundings and vast woodland gardens.

Harlech Beach
Harlech Beach is within a short walk from Crown Lodge, or an even shorter drive with plenty of parking available. It is regarded as one of Wales' best beaches but it is largely unknown, the result being that there is always plenty of room. Dogs are welcome but are restricted to the northern half of the beach during Summer .

Further afield, there are also excellent beaches at Barmouth, Criccieth and Abersoch; all within 30 minutes drive of Crown Lodge.

Snowdonia National Park
Crown Lodge is perfectly located for exploring the Snowdonia National Park, Mount Snowdon can be seen from Bedroom Three on a clear evening.

As well as being the largest National Park in Wales, Snowdonia boasts the highest mountain in England and Wales, and the largest natural lake in Wales, as well as a wealth of picturesque villages like Betws y Coed and Beddgelert. Snowdonia is an area steeped in culture and local history.

Llechwedd Slate Caverns
Buried deep under the mountains of Snowdonia lies an extraordinary story: it’s a rock revolution that shaped the look and feel of the world as we know it. A way of life which built communities and defined generations of families in North Wales.

The Slate Caverns are in Blaenau Ffestiniog which is a 25 minute drive from Crown Lodge. Nearby is also the UK's longest zipwire!

St David's Golf Course
Crown Lodge overlooks the St David's golf course which is just a short distance away. It has recently been voted one of the Top Golf Courses in the Country.

The Par 69 course has been increased to a challenging 6,629 yds from the Championship Tees following the extension of the practice ground and the reconfiguration of the 17th hole in 2008. It is noted for a succession of long testing par 4 holes and 5 par 3's, which vary in length and direction. A feature is the large size of the greens.
